About Shannon Affholter
I was born and raised in Toppenish, Washington, where my father was a long-time coach and
public school teacher. My mother was a seasonal union worker at the local canning factory.
Growing up in a small town, I learned at a young age the community values of family,
hard work, and neighborhood living.
The importance of family was a significant part of my life. I saw the benefits of hard
work as my father and mother worked long hours to pay the monthly bills. I also understood
the merits of living in a neighborhood as the families on my block looked out for each other.
I believe these are the same community values that are important to the people of Everett.

The Affholter Family
I attended Yakima Valley Community College before graduating with honors from Pacific Lutheran University
in 1991 with a Business Administration degree. As a dedicated student-athlete, I played on the
Yakima Valley Community College and Pacific Lutheran University varsity basketball and tennis teams,
and was even selected as a two-time Academic All-American. My greatest accomplishment in
college, however, was marrying Shannon Lee O'Donnell almost 21 years ago.
My wife, Shannon Lee (yes, we have the same first name) and I have lived in Everett for more
than a decade and are raising our two children here. We are active in our community and
feel very fortunate to call Everett home. We appreciate our wonderful neighborhoods, expanding
cultural activities, and strong public schools. Furthermore, I enjoy working at Moss Adams,
a prominent accounting and consulting firm in Everett, as a business development executive.
I am currently serving as President of the Everett City Council. Throughout my term in public
office, I have applied my private sector experience and business background to promote a
stronger, more diverse economy in Everett. Along these lines, I have supported targeted investments
in public safety, transportation infrastructure, and local parks to help ensure our community remains
a dynamic place to live and work.
In the next four years, I will continue to focus on preserving funding for critical services and
making smart investments in our future - while keeping a close eye on the bottom line.
Everett citizens want and deserve a government that applies common sense to municipal issues while
treating their tax dollars with appropriate care and respect. With your help, we can keep
that spirit alive at City Hall and help Everett achieve its true potential as a community.
